[C] What a friend we have in [F] Jesus,
[C] All our sins and griefs to [G] bear!
[C] What a privilege to [F] carry
[C] [G] Everything to God in [C] prayer
[Dm] Oh, what peace we often [C] forfeit,

Verse 2:
[C] Have we trials and [F] temptations?

[Dm] Can we find a friend so [C] faithful?

[C] Are we weak and heavy [F] laden,
[C] Cumbered with a load of [G] care?
[C] Precious Savior, still our [F] refuge

[Dm] Do thy friends despise [C] forsake thee?

Verse 4:
[C] Blessed Savior, Thou hast [F] promised
[C] Thou wilt all our burdens [G] bear;
[C] May we ever, Lord, be [F] bringing
[C] All to [G] Thee in earnest [C] prayer.
[Dm] Soon in glory bright, [C] unclouded,
[F] There will [C] be no need for [G] prayer—
[C] Rapture, praise, and endless [F] worship
[C] Will be [G] our sweet portion [C] there.
